- Heat the oil and saute the onion and garlic until soft and translucent.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and saute for 2-3 minutes until soft.
- Add the passata and tomato puree then simmer gently for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
- Add the basil, sugar, salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook for a few minutes, then serve with your favourite pasta topped with extra basil and grated Parmigiano or Parmesan cheese.
